What am I doing here?

I decided on a New Year’s resolution in April, and it was to read and write more. Better late than never. Also easier said than done. I am historically an inconsistent reader of books. I love a newspaper, but books tend to lose my attention. I am nearly incapable of reading fiction, something I say with some embarrassment. This is part of trying to fix all that.

I have a lot of ideas right now surrounding culture, politics, technology, and mental health. I think those things intersect in new and unexplored ways in my generation. And I think there is a serious problem with the way we have constructed — or deconstructed, really — community in the 21st century.

I also remain an unapologetic zealot for walkable communities, and will occasionally talk about this here, though you should subscribe to updates for that at WalkableVolusia.org.

I am not guaranteeing that I will write and publish regularly. Emails from me will probably be rare. All I’m saying is that when I have something to say I will say it here.

I appreciate your interest.
